Marlene Mouton


Principal & Intermediate Phase Mathematics Teacher

Principal and Teacher Marlene is a distinguished educator with 30 years of teaching and tutoring experience in Mathematics and the Sciences. Holding a BSc.Ed from RAU, she has made significant strides in South African education by introducing the Japanese Abacus system through her initiative, A⁺ Students SA. She is the author of over 40 Mathematics based books and developed the A⁺ Play Maths program, which advocates for a tactile & kinesthetic learning experience.


She is the founder of A⁺ Academy SA, with branches in Rustenburg and Bloemfontein.


God is the cornerstone of her life. She is a devoted family person. Marlene takes great pride in her children's educational journeys, with her daughter an aspiring equestrian and her son pursuing a BSc.Ed.

Johannah Motsile

FOUNDATION & PRIMARY PHASE LEARING SUPPORT

Johannah graduated as an ECD level 4 Educator, and has also studied Educare N4 to N6. She had 6 years experience in a preschool before joining our A+ family. She is currently working as a classroom assistant in both the Grade RR – Grade 1 class, as well as the Grade 2 and 3 class. She adores working with children, and they gravitate towards her because of her caring and gentle nature. Johannah is keen on furthering her education and will grasp any opportunity that comes her way.


Kaylin Govender

Senior Foundation Phase Teacher & Stage 3 Teachers

Kaylin has a track record of successful teaching and education reform and has been teaching children of all ages for over six years. She grew up in a family of teachers, which inspired her to take on tutoring and mentoring roles as early as 13 years old. 


By the time she was 16 years old she was already known as an excellent tutor for Afrikaans throughout her community. During Mrs. Govender’s career path she has also headed many efforts to expand the curriculum to engage students at different competencies, as well as learners with special needs and learning difficulties such as ADHD, autism and dyslexia.


She is an educator with vision, passion and purpose, she loves inspiring, empowering and impacting the lives of her students.


 

Trish Ellis

HOD Intermediate & Senior Phase. English teacher stage 4 to IGCSE. ICT & Art Teachers Stage 4-8.

Trish Ellis worked for many years in the corporate world doing shipping control and financial accounting. After being called into the world of education, she found her passion for teaching, especially languages, art and computer literacy. She has gained experience teaching at independent Christian schools, tutoring home school students doing various curriculums as well as extra lessons to learners from grade 4 to 12.


Her qualifications include a UNISA 4 year degree (Intermediate to Senior phase), Damelin/ICBA Financial Accounting National Diploma, TEFL as well as various computer related diplomas and certificates.


Her greatest passions other than teaching are family, animals, plants and nature in general.


She strongly believes in teaching according to the individual learning style of the student and supporting them that have any learning difficulties. Trish strives to create a positive learning environment for each student, considering their unique individual needs, encouraging social skills, love for nature and all of Gods creation.


 

Lindi Liebenberg

Afrikaans, Geography, History and Music school

Lindi Liebenberg joins A⁺Academy as the new Afrikaans, Geography, History, and Music teacher, bringing her rich educational background from the University of Pretoria and her SACE registration. Her extensive teaching experience in various settings has shaped her adaptive, student-focused teaching style. Beyond academics, Lindi is actively involved in music, outdoor activities, and community services. As the head of A⁺Academy's Music School, she is dedicated to fostering both academic and personal growth in students.


 

Amber Lessing

Foundation Phase Stage pre 1 & Stage 1 Teacher

Amber has worked with children for the past 13 years and is passionate about developing their skills to the best of their abilities, as well as making sure her students are happy and engaged. She firmly believes that a happy child is a child who learns wholeheartedly. Amber has taught a wide variety of age groups, from the tiniest 3 month old babies to the grade 9 students that are taller than her, although her heart lies with the preschoolers.


Her methods of teaching are based on play and enquiry based learning, focusing on whole child development.


 

Kim Sham

Hi ,my name is Kim Sham and I am very excited to be part of the A+ Academy team.


I have worked with children of all ages for over 7 years and I have completed my TELF certificate.


I love teaching and I enjoy bringing out the creative side of learning.My goal is to make a creative environment in which all students can learn and grow in.


Teaching children is an honour God has blessed me with with.


 

Monique Hilbig

IGCSE Computer Science facilitator

Monique is currently tutoring full-time as well as running workshops for speed reading, study skills, and time management intervention. Her passion for teaching stems from her love for helping children reach their full potential. Her spare time is spent as a Troop Scouter at the 1st Discovery Scout Group, where she assists young ladies in building character and developing their leadership skills. She has always had a passion for learning and believes that each new day is an opportunity to broaden your horizons. Her goal is to help students reach their goals and to create a love for learning!

We are proud partners with LEARN TO LINK Specialist Teachers teaching some of our Cambridge Subjects (CAIE) . Our students enjoy the high standards of teaching while having learning support teachers in class facilitating our Specialist Teachers to ensure optimal learning!

I received my B.Ed degree in 2013. Children are my passion. I love to see how the grow and gain confidence. For the past two years I am part of A+ Academy, and what a pleasure it is. Teaching in small groups and learning through play is most definitely effective

Monique Terblanche

I’m teaching at A+ Academy in Rustenburg. I have 10 year experience in teaching Foundation phase learners. I’m a very thoughtful teacher who puts a lot of thought Into how I present the material, so I’m finding the Cambridge curriculum a total delight. I like to get to know my learners weakest and strongest areas it’s a great platform to develop them. 

Charline Pieterse

Charline has a B.ED foundation phase degree. She is our grade R teacher.


She has been A grade R teacher for the past 14 years. Chaline has a passion for children and believes that you must teacher  child to believe in themselves no matter what their ability.

I started teaching A+ Abacus maths classes 8 years ago. It helped me realise my love for teaching children and help them grow to their full potential. That became my drive and passion. Starting A+ Academy was the result thereof. Through my skills I fulfill my dream of creating an environment for kids to thrive and reach their full potential.

Meegan Baird

She has been teaching since 2016. She has worked with children ever since she matriculated in 2011. She was at a school in Johannesburg and is now at A+ Academy Bloemfontein. For Meegan teaching is not just a job, it’s a calling, it’s a mission! She wants to make sure that each child is safe and cared for and that they enjoy learning through play.

Jancke Scheepers 

Stage 2 teacher


Jancke knew from her childhood that she wanted to become a teacher and is now living her dream. She is passionate about teaching children and helping them to progress in all areas of their development. She is currently in her final year of her teaching degree. It is her first year of teaching at A+ Students and she enjoys every moment. She is very excited about her future at A+ Students Academy. 

Imke Lourens

Stage 3 Teacher


Imke grew up with many family members who were teachers who contributed to her decision on becoming one herself from a young age. Imke is a passionate and hardworking young teacher. In 2017 she received a golden key for her academic achievements. She completed her studies at the University of the Free State in 2020. This qualified B.Ed Foundation Phase Teacher has been proudly working for A+ Students Academy since 2021.

 

Christina Couvaras

Stage 7


Christina is a full-time Stage 7 teacher at A+ Bloemfontein and has been with the Bloemfontein team for almost a year. She switched careers from Law to Education as she feels God led her to Education when she started at A+. Christina is currently working towards her PGCE to further her teaching career. Her free time is mostly spent in the gym, outdoors and around nature. She is very passionate about her Greek heritage and devotes her time to NAHYSOSA. (A bursary fund and organisation for Hellenic youth.) Her favourite part about teaching is seeing students reach their full potential and believe in themselves. She is excited and grateful for the road ahead and being a life-long learner. 

Janneke Marais

Intermediate Phase – Stage 5


Janneke obtained a B.Ed degree in 2015 from the University of the Free State and a B.Ed Honours degree in 2016 from the University of Stellenbosch. After her studies she worked abroad for two years where she had the opportunity to work with people from different backgrounds, cultures and nationalities.


Janneke has experience in teaching CAPS & Cambridge curriculums and enjoys the opportunity to teach learners in a smaller class environment at A+ Students.

Nomalanga Mngomezulu

Stage 2


Nomalanga worked in retail for a number of years until she realised her love for children outweighed anything else that she would want to do. Through this love for children, she discovered her passion for teaching and decided to focus her energy on that instead. She is currently studying towards a degree in Education and is looking forward to post - graduate studies to ensure that she will be on top of her field of expertise one day.

Marochelle Pieterse

Pre-Stage 1 (Grade R)


Nomalanga worked in retail for a number of years until she realised her love for children outweighed anything else that she would want to do. Yelene Lourens

My teachers in the past contributed to my decision to become a teacher. I am a very passionate and hardworking teacher. I completed my foundation phase degree in 2022. I am very excited to start my teaching journey at A+ Academy.

Annerie Swanepoel

Stage 5


I am very passionate about teaching the younger minds. I love any cultural activities like dancing, acting and singing. I am very energetic and can't wait to enrich the young minds of today.

Pamela Marais

Stage 6


I always played school games with my dolls as a little girl and that was just the beginning. I obtained a B.Ed degree in 2020 at the North West University. I love working with children and to see how they grow into the best version of themselves, and the individual God created them to be.
